Special night buses, requiring a special ticket, run from 11:00 PM to 4:00 AM.
You can also take the bus for trips to destinations in other parts of Spain.
You can save money by purchasing multi-ride tickets and passes such as a special pass that is good for travel on either the metro or the bus and can also be used for trips to and from the airport.
Taxi
Taxis can be booked in advance but if you need to flag one, look for a green light indicating the taxi is available. Official taxis are black and yellow.
Rental Car
Think twice before renting a car if you don't have experience driving in European cities. The streets can be complicated and confusing. And who wants to spend vacation being tense and frustrated? If driving wasn't challenging enough, parking may present it's own set of problems. You may have trouble finding a convenient parking space and parking illegally can result in your vehicle being towed.
But if you insist upon driving in the city or you plan to spend time traveling the countryside, you will find several of the major international rental agencies present along with European rental outfits at the airport and the railway station as well as several other locations throughout the city.
Drivers must be at least 21 years old and show a passport and a valid driving licence. If your credit card company doesn't provide international insurance coverage, you'll have to purchase a policy before renting.
